About the position

The Datacenter Engineer will be responsible for the oversight and advancement of our Datacenter facilities, Physical Compute, Operating Systems (Linux and Windows), Virtualization, Storage, and Backup environments, both on-premises and in the cloud. Reporting to the Director Datacenter Services, this position necessitates a strong combination of technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive technological enhancements and projects within the organization. The Datacenter Engineer ensures that our system hardware, operating systems, backup, storage, virtualization and related procedures adhere to the highest standards of reliability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Operate independently and within a team to drive tasks and achieve project milestones and deadlines while managing SLAs and ticket queues.
  • Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of Datacenter Facilities infrastructure, ensuring the integrity and availability of all software, server resources, and key processes.
  • Regularly apply OS patches, configure system software, and upgrade enterprise infrastructure or asset management applications.
  • Perform hosting software/hardware security administration, account management, and technology reviews, adhering to gaming commission requirements and driving vulnerability management to align with security standards.
  • Conduct performance and capacity monitoring, reporting, tuning, and optimization to ensure system efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for operational, configuration, and procedural processes.
  • Conduct hardware/software repair and recovery operations in the event of failures.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization, including CPU, memory, and disk partitioning.
  • Provide Tier III support and address hardware or software failures while coordinating and communicating with impacted parties.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure continuous support and maintain system performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a datacenter engineer role or related position, with a strong focus on facilities, physical compute, storage, and backup environments.
  • Experience in virtualization or a closely related field, with documented success in managing complex virtualization environments.
  • Experience in UNIX-like systems, mainly Red Hat Linux, and Microsoft Windows environments or equivalent experience.
