About The Position

The Datacenter Design Architect role within Microsoft's Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) team focuses on developing advanced datacenter infrastructure designs and innovative technologies for Microsoft's cloud business. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in critical facility design, engineering, and operational requirements, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and project management across various stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of datacenter projects globally.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Master's degree in the same fields AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Doctorate degree in the same fields.
  • 2+ years of experience with design production using software such as Revit, Sketchup, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD for conceptual level designs.
  • 2+ years of experience working in critical environments such as data centers, healthcare facilities, or financial institutions.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Independently develops design documentation including drawings, specifications, or diagrams for complex products or features.
  • Provides guidance to other engineers on the use of fundamental features of modeling tools.
  • Displays deep knowledge in a specific and complex engineering domain or knowledge in multiple technical areas.
  • Creates robust, scalable, secure, and extensible designs and/or verification plans for hardware engineering aspects of complex products.
  • Develops and implements technical solutions to complex quality and design challenges, applying lessons learned to recommend future-focused solutions.
  • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to support development and delivery of global strategy projects.
  • Maintains a strong customer service focus, communicating effectively with technical management teams and collaborating with various groups.
  • Utilizes MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for effective reporting and presentations of project information.
  • Performs complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions, demonstrating a growth mindset.
  • Action-oriented with a passion for efficient and effective project execution.
