About The Position
The Database Specialist will join a high performing agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology to support a nationally significant program. Program execution follows DEVOPS best practices and employs robust development, test and production environments. DigiFlight, Inc. is looking for a Database Specialist to support a government customer in a DevSecOps program operating in the SAFe Agile framework. The specialist will manage database auditing, including daily review of audit reports, and will continually investigate methods to improve database reliability and performance for peer review and implementation alongside developers and systems engineers. The role involves providing input on capacity planning, high availability solutions, and upgrade strategies, including proactive database performance monitoring, tuning, and best practices implementation. The Database Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. The specialist will apply knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end and back-end programming languages such as COGNOS, C#, Java, and JavaScript. Responsibilities also include conducting quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data, maintaining database dictionaries, monitoring standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integrating systems through database design. The specialist will perform remedial actions as necessary to ensure databases remain online and available to applications and users, and will work with application owners and developers to ensure databases meet their performance and availability requirements. Additionally, the role involves maintaining information assurance (IA) security documentation and artifacts for SQL databases.
