We're looking for a motivated and diligent Database Operations Intern to join our team. You'll work alongside experienced Database Administrators (DBAs), DevOps engineers, and data specialists to support database management, automation, and AI-driven insights across multiple environments. This internship offers hands-on exposure to enterprise databases, cloud platforms (AWS), and emerging AI applications in data operations, such as intelligent monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated performance tuning.

  • Assist DBAs with daily operations - user management, backups, database health checks, and monitoring.
  • Support ticket resolution in Jira and ensure timely follow-up on assigned issues.
  • Help automate repetitive tasks using Jenkins Pipelines, Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripts.
  • Participate in database migrations, upgrades, and testing activities.
  • Document runbooks, operational guides, and automation workflows.
  • Ensure unused AWS resources or test databases are offlined after migration/testing.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted monitoring and alerting initiatives, using data to identify performance trends or potential issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate AI-based tools that improve database reliability and performance.
  • Support the Brightly Software projects and other operational initiatives.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, and Linux/Unix.
  • Awareness or interest in AI and machine learning applications in data management (e.g., predictive analytics, query optimization, anomaly detection).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.

  • Familiarity with AWS services, database monitoring tools, or DevOps practices is a plus.
  • Real-world experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL database administration.
  • Exposure to AI-driven operations (AIOps) - how AI and ML enhance database performance, capacity planning, and root-cause analysis.
  • Techniques for database automation, cloud migration, and predictive maintenance.
  • Standard processes in incident management, observability, and proactive monitoring.
  • Collaboration in a modern, agile engineering and operations culture.
