About The Position

Tyto Athene is seeking an experienced and motivated Database Management Specialist to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) E-commerce Operations Service Support (EOSS) contract. The EOSS systems are crucial for the DHA's interactions with private sector healthcare systems, facilitating financial management, acquisition support, and contract operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our scalable and robust data infrastructure on a cloud platform, with a strong focus on AWS Glue and other AWS data services.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a focus on cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services, including AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon Athena.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing, automation, and database management.
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop.
  • Solid understanding of data pipeline architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must be a US Citizen and obtain a public trust/T3
  • Ability to work on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of DataOps practices and CI/CD for data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, or EKS.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Public Trust/T3 preferred or the ability to obtain a DoD Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using AWS services, with a strong emphasis on AWS Glue.
  • Build and orchestrate complex data pipeline workflows using tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Develop serverless data processing solutions with AWS Lambda and EventBridge for real-time data transformation.
  • Create and manage ETL jobs using AWS Glue, including automated schema discovery and catalog management.
  • Design, optimize, and manage data warehousing solutions using Amazon Redshift and execute federated queries with Amazon Athena.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Implement data quality and validation processes to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes, architecture, and workflows.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, resolving any issues promptly.
