The Database Developer at Indiana University Bloomington is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining various internal databases for the Organization of American Historians (OAH). This role involves ensuring IT security, compliance with data policies, and serving as the IT lead for OAH. The position requires a strong focus on database performance, security, and stability, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.

  • Design, develop, program, implement, and maintain internal OAH databases including member management systems and financial reporting systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues and develop fixes for database and IT systems as needed.
  • Ensure IT security and compliance with IU information technology and data policies.
  • Create and maintain documentation for development, maintenance, and security of all OAH IT systems.
  • Conduct research and self-study to stay current on database and IT systems best practices.
  • Serve as the IT lead and point of contact for OAH at IU.
  • Develop and maintain the annual OAH IT department budget and track expenses.
  • Provide experienced design, development, and implementation of databases with a focus on performance and security.
  • Deliver and report on data through the development of stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views.
  • Troubleshoot issues and develop normalized database solutions, maintaining query efficiency.
  • Research and recommend database standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • 2 years of database planning, design, development, or related experience.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and time management skills.
