The Database Analyst will be responsible for implementing data architecture solutions that support the department's research initiatives. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Analyst to join our IT team. This position will be full-time, hybrid, and is a contract position.

  • Implement data architecture solutions to support departmental research initiatives
  • Develop ETL routines within the silver layer of the research data lake
  • Collaborate with research scientists to align business use cases within the gold layer
  • Ensure data hygiene across all layers and integrate new data sources as needed
  • Document data flows and transformations for transparency and continuity
  • Support program business compliance tools, strategic enforcement initiatives, WALL implementation data management, wage theft violation tracking pipelines, validation protocols for data accuracy
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases (query writing, performance tuning, optimization)
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes
  • Experience with AWS cloud database services (RDS, Aurora)
  • Familiarity with data storage solutions for large volumes
  • Ability to design data structures for both routine and ad-hoc queries
  • Knowledge of electronic data processing platforms
  • Experience with data dictionary systems and database internals
  • Understanding of telecommunications systems as they relate to databases
  • Ability to estimate and analyze database capabilities
  • Familiarity with simulation and modeling techniques for database design
  • Experience coordinating with systems and programming teams
  • Strong collaboration skills with project teams and stakeholders
  • Effective written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to maintain records and learn agency systems
  • Experience with AWS ecosystem (Glue, Lambda, S3, Athena, Redshift)
  • Strong Python skills for data manipulation and automation
  • Experience automating data updates and validation processes
  • Experience in government or regulatory environments
  • Experience with PostgreSQL
  • Experience building/improving data pipelines from multiple sources
  • 3+ years working with BI/visualization tools (e.g., AWS QuickSight)
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Experience evaluating or working with vendor-built database solutions
