The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining stable development, test, reporting and production database environments. Installs, configures, implements, and monitors MS SQL Server stand-by solutions using log shipping and SQL replication methods. Maintenance and support of Microsoft SQL server software. Assists with implementation planning, database software installation, configuration, and customization as well as daily administration, capacity planning, performance tuning, and implementation of backup / recovery strategies. Provides on-call support for the timely and accurate resolution of problems for all database systems. Assists application developers with writing efficient SQL queries, Stores Procedures/DTS Packages. Prepares, executes and documents disaster recovery procedures for all database systems and coordinates recovery activities with the Disaster Recovery team.

  • Maintain stable development, test, reporting and production database environments.
  • Install, configure, implement, and monitor MS SQL Server stand-by solutions using log shipping and SQL replication methods.
  • Provide maintenance and support of Microsoft SQL server software.
  • Assist with implementation planning, database software installation, configuration, and customization.
  • Perform daily administration, capacity planning, performance tuning, and implementation of backup/recovery strategies.
  • Provide on-call support for timely and accurate resolution of problems for all database systems.
  • Assist application developers with writing efficient SQL queries, Stored Procedures/DTS Packages.
  • Prepare, execute and document disaster recovery procedures for all database systems.
  • Five years of SQL Server DBA experience, expert level.
  • Experience with SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, functions and transactions analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of indices and statistics.
  • Experience with Microsoft replication.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server Clustering is a big plus.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 & 2005 administration and operations.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 & 2005 reporting services.
  • Working knowledge of Windows server operating systems and network connectivity.
  • Strong optimization, database sizing, capacity planning, backup & recovery skills.
  • Experience with SQL tuning and performance monitoring.
  • Able to create and maintain DTS & SSIS packages for transforming data from various sources to SQL.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven production support background of application databases in a 24x7 environment.
