Work involves planning, developing, maintaining, monitoring, testing, and issue resolution for databases. Coordinates with service provider and application groups to install new versions, new enhancements, and newly released databases. Monitors applications for space utilization on test, development, and production environments. Monitors database performance and adjust as required to maximize efficiency. Works with service provider and IT Applications team to set up production jobs, schedule jobs, monitor jobs, and performance tune the jobs that run with job schedulers. Archives, restores, and recovers databases as required. Creates and maintains appropriate documentation. Evaluates and recommends goals and objectives for the use and improvement of an efficient and cost-effective database system and software packages. Evaluates and implements database policies and procedures; Develops goals and objectives for the use and improvement of an efficient and cost-effective database system. May train others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Selected candidate must work onsite from an HHS office located in Austin, Texas designated by the hiring manager.
