HOW A DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT Administer, monitor, and maintain both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases across production and development environments Perform routine database maintenance tasks including backups, patches, tuning, and upgrades Design, implement, and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for performance and scalability Ensure data integrity, availability, and security, complying with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to integrate backend data solutions Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization and locking conflicts Implement and maintain disaster recovery and high availability solutions such as Data Guard, AlwaysOn, or failover clustering Create and maintain documentation related to database design, configuration, and procedures

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency with PL/SQL, T-SQL, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell or Bash)
  • Familiar with database monitoring and automation tools (e.g., OEM, SQL Server Management Studio, Redgate, SolarWinds)
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field; or possess an advanced degree in a related field (such as: Computer Science, IT Management, Engineering, Data Science)
  • 6+ yrs of directly related professional work experience
  • Oracle Certified DBA and Microsoft SQL Server Certification
  • TS/SCI with active polygraph

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a big plus
  • Understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools is desirable
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to explain database concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Analytical thinker with a commitment to best practices, quality, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities
