About The Position

U.S. Financial Technology (U.S. FinTech) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team of talented professionals. This is a full-time remote opportunity. U.S. FinTech built and operates the largest and most advanced mortgage securitization platform in the world, supporting the Uniform Mortgage-Backed Security (UMBS) of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Supporting 70% of the mortgage-backed securities in the market, U.S. FinTech provides best-in-class single-family issuance, bond administration, disclosure, and tax services. Do you have an interest in Cloud Infrastructure support and cloud computing with a focus on multi-RDBMS administration as a part of a highly skilled DBA team? This team is responsible for installation, configuration, and day-to-day support of SQL Server and Oracle on EC2, and a small number of AWS RDS instances. This mid-level DBA position will be working with the Cloud operations team, application support team, SRE team, and business teams. The candidate will need to be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced team environment, participate in on-call rotation to support production infrastructure and be a part of monthly deployment and maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related technical field required.
• Minimum 3 years related work experience managing SQL Server 2016 or newer, Amazon RDS and Oracle 19c or later versions of databases in AWS production environments.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring employer sponsorship currently or in the future. U.S. FinTech does not offer H-1B sponsorship for this position.
• Proven experience in managing SQL Server 2016 or higher, Amazon RDS and Oracle 19c as a DBA, preferably including Production environment.
• Clear understanding of backup and recovery procedures for Oracle 19c using RMAN and SQL Server native backups.
• Understanding of basic database concepts, such as indexes and statistics, concurrency and blocking, transactions, data caching.
• Solid understanding of SQL Server tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Configuration Manager.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and experience in supporting database servers on both.
• A working knowledge of AWS Cloud Infrastructure, including but not limited to Regions and AZs, EC2, EBS, NACL & Security Groups, CloudWatch, Event Bridge, etc.
• Experience in scripting/deployment languages such as PowerShell, Python preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate well across functional teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot system issues, problems, identifying root causes and fixing them.
• Fair knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts and terminologies.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD methodologies.
• Must be willing to provide on call support on a rotation basis for 24x7 support. When on call, requires off hour and weekend support.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with database performance and tuning is highly desirable.
• Experience with HA/DR strategies for SQL Server, including Always-On Availability Group.
• Experience with Oracle Grid Infrastructure (including ASM) and Oracle Data Guard is highly desirable.
• Professional Certifications in AWS, Azure and Database technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in day-to-day DBA operations performing tasks such as working on change tickets that involve executing SQL scripts in Production, resolving incident tickets related to database availability, backups, free disk space, long-running queries, etc.
• Participated in on-call rotation, attending to database related alerts and notifications in a timely manner and taking appropriate action to resolve the underlying issue(s).
• In addition to performing the daily DBA tasks, contribute towards the success of the on-going projects related to automation, infrastructure-as-a-code, technology updates, containerization, etc.
• Assist development and QA teams with deployment activities by performing DBA tasks assigned in the runbook.
• Actively support operational teams and other stakeholder teams to provide business systems availability and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Support the production and lower environments infrastructure 24/7 as part of the production support team.
• Participate in on-call rotation as infrastructure support primary to support production.
