About The Position

Database Administrator responsible for the administration of databases and middleware products which support the software applications provided by System Computing Services to the NSHE community. Duties include: Define, allocate and load physical databases; develop procedures and standards for database administration; define backup and recovery procedures to support database and data dictionary integrity; respond to technical inquiries concerning database and related technology; develop and maintain security procedures and functions/uses of database software; evaluate new database software and determine applicability and benefits to the environment; monitor database management system operations to anticipate and prevent potential problems; control and execute system utilities to create and modify database structures, back up and restore the database, regenerate updates, and produce system reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 5 years of direct experience in administering the Oracle databases
  • Cross Platform Migration
  • Enterprise Database Server Administration
  • Database design, creation, and maintenance
  • Database monitoring, tuning, and job scheduling
  • Use of Grid Control and Enterprise Manager or similar applications
  • Basic Oracle database security
  • Database networking/integration
  • Fusion Middleware Administration: Installation and configuration of Oracle Application Server
  • Integration with disparate platforms/environments
  • Implementation of Oracle Identity Management solutions
  • Development/Tools Administration: Application Express (formerly HTMLDB), Designer, Developer Suite, JDeveloper, Java, J2EE, PL/SQL
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA): Data partitioning
  • Recovery Manager (RMAN)
  • Data Guard
  • Grid computing
  • Oracle Advanced Security
