Nebraska DHHS is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support and maintain critical IBM z/OS and LUW DB2 environments that power essential health and human services systems. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 5+ years of DB2 administration experience, strong Java or REXX development skills, and knowledge of REDCap who is ready to ensure data reliability, system performance, and long-term stability for mission-critical applications. This is a full-time/permanent on-site role in Lincoln, Nebraska. Not eligible to be a contracted position. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services does not sponsor or transfer non-immigrant work visas for these positions.

  • Design, implement, test IBM z/OS and LUW DB2 database changes in accordance with CHARTS releases
  • Manage the IBM z/OS and LUW DB2 environment by performing LUW reorgs, statistics, data unloads/ loads, data backups/ recoveries
  • Assist technical teams with SQL Query development as well as troubleshooting issues
  • Administer and maintain the Windows DB2 Gateway servers
  • Author, support, and execute Java and REXX based scripts related to supporting the database environment
  • Administer and support the Redcap survey software for the Agency
  • Author and support Redcap forms and questionnaires
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field of study and three years related experience or A bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience. Experience may include application programming, software installation and software maintenance, including systems programming, online programming, database design, analysis and programming using IFS and/or SQL/DS and database administration. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of recent experience in the following:
  • IBM z/OS and LUW DB2 Administration and support
  • Java/ REXX development
  • Preferred skillset of 2 years experience in Redcap Administration
