About The Position

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of a Database Administrator (Oracle) for one of our clients. The designated candidate for this position will join a collaborative team environment, providing support and expertise necessary toward the successful delivery of the project deliverables, and provide effective communication to all levels of staff for reporting status/progress. The place of performance for this contract is in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • 100% ONSITE (5 DAYS A WEEK) - WASHINGTON, DC
  • Bachelor's Degree in any related field
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of overall work experience
  • Requires deep technical expertise, proactive problem-solving and coordination with development and infrastructure teams.
  • Extensive experience administering Oracle production databases running Oracle 19c or higher on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) including the design, provisioning, and maintenance of the databases
  • Experience configuring Oracle databases to meet federal security guidelines
  • Significant experience working with and debugging Oracle PL/SQL
  • Extensive experience with Oracle patching and upgrades
  • Extensive experience with database backup/ recovery tools and techniques, such as Oracle RMAN and Flashback
  • Extensive experience administering multi-site Oracle database implementations using Oracle Data Guard
  • Experience providing guidance and support to application developers in the creation and deployment of DML or DDL scripts in support of application maintenance or deployment
  • Extensive experience performing maintenance and upgrades for Oracle database implementation
  • In-depth, hands-on experience in installing and configuring Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
  • Able to drill down in OEM to identify any performance issues
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AWS and Postgres (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Support the operations and maintenance of an enterprise-level database system.
  • Responsible for the performance, integrity, security and availability of Oracle databases supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Administer Oracle production databases running Oracle 19c or higher on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) including the design, provisioning, and maintenance of the databases
  • Configure Oracle databases to meet federal security guidelines
  • Administer multi-site Oracle database implementations using Oracle Data Guard
  • Provide guidance and support to application developers in the creation and deployment of DML or DDL scripts in support of application maintenance or deployment
  • Perform maintenance and upgrades for Oracle database implementation
