About the position
The Lead Database Administrator position at Mindlance involves overseeing a team of database administrators, primarily focusing on MongoDB technology. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and managerial skills, as the individual will be responsible for strategic planning, execution of database activities, and ensuring the smooth operation of database systems. The position is hybrid, allowing for remote work, and is structured as a contract with the potential for hire after six months.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 8-9 database administrators, both onshore and offshore.
- Delegate work and assign priorities to team members.
- Plan and execute strategic database activities, including resolving complex issues.
- Oversee the implementation, monitoring, backup, and automation of database systems.
- Ensure the security and encryption of data at rest.
- Configure Docker MongoDB images on Linux systems.
- Implement multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters in various environments.
Requirements
- At least 2+ years of managerial experience in a database administration role.
- 8+ years of experience as a senior DBA, specifically with MongoDB technology.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and other database technologies is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB installation and configuration.
- Knowledge of audit, security, and encryption practices.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with MongoDB Atlas.
- Familiarity with Oracle and SQL databases.
- Experience in managing medium-sized teams of 4 to 10 DBAs.
