We are seeking a junior Database Administrator (DBA) primarily focused on Microsoft SQL Server environments, both on-premises and Azure cloud . The ideal candidate will manage, optimize, and secure our SQL Server databases to ensure high availability and performance. Knowledge of Databricks/Vertica is a plus but not mandatory. Knowledge or working experience with any Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool like terraform is a plus.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator focused on Microsoft SQL Server (on-prem and Azure).
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
  • Experience with backup/restore, high availability (AlwaysOn, clustering), and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL Database and Azure infrastructure.
  • Solid scripting skills (T-SQL, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to work in person at least four days per week.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
  • Must be willing to work additional hours as needed to complete deadline driven projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and Github Copilot to automate or refine code and database administration task using AI is a plus.
  • Experience with Vertica/Databricks on Azure.
  • Knowledge of other data platforms or cloud providers is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of terraform or equivalent IaC tool.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-prem and Azure environments.
  • Monitor database performance, conduct tuning, and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure database security and compliance with company policies.
  • Support database deployments, upgrades, and migrations (SQL and Databricks)
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to optimize database-related processes.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
  • Maintain database documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning efforts.
  • Automating DBA tasks using scripting or tools
