About The Position

Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers. This is a programmer/analyst position in support of the dynamic and complex requirements of Submarine Engineering operations. Primary tasks and duties will include, but are not limited to, the design, development, integration, documentation, maintenance, testing, debugging, and management of multiuser MS Access database applications. Candidates will need extensive knowledge and experience with MS Access , including VBA and SQL; object-oriented programming concepts; strong application design principles; MS Excel, including Excel object manipulation from within Access; database design, programming and functionality; and data management techniques and processes. Candidates will determine user needs; analyze current capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, and input data acquisition. Strong communication and customer interface skills are a plus. Please note that this is not a traditional DBA position, it is a programming position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
