The Database Administrator 2 position resides in the Technology Services Division of the Department of Revenue. The Database Analyst plans, develops, and manages database and application server operations and enhancements to ensure systems meet user needs, comply with state and federal regulations, and operate efficiently within state standards. The Database Analyst is responsible for the performance, data integrity, and security of the agency's MS SQL Server databases and critical applications.

  • Provides guidance to Application Services Bureau (ASB) personnel when problems arise.
  • Installs, configures, and tests Microsoft SQL Server software packages and new software releases.
  • Monitors database performance and statistics, and conducts maintenance to ensure efficient system operations.
  • Configures, maintains, and administers Microsoft SQL Server database environments for critical DOR applications including GenTax and Assessment & Tax Pro.
  • Provides database backup and recovery strategies and guidance to other database and ASB personnel.
  • Analyzes, develops, and implements solutions to resolve database problems.
  • Provides analytical and technical assistance, guidance, and direction to coworkers.
  • Develops scripts for server and database maintenance.
  • Determines problems and support for application batch processing on mid-tier servers.
  • Prepares and provides training and documentation for programmers and technical support staff.
  • Provides technical guidance in the use of Microsoft SQL Server programming products.
  • Establishes and maintains database security roles.
  • Configures and maintains replicated database environments for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Analyzes and evaluates agency business processes and system specifications.
  • Develops standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manages database and application server enhancement and maintenance efforts.
  • Identifies potential threats and liabilities to computing systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, mathematics, engineering, or closely related field.
  • Three years job related work experience including programming information technology systems, troubleshooting, and problem isolation.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and follow instructions.
  • Provide timely customer service and handle multiple priorities under deadlines.
  • Translate technical information to varied audiences.
