As a Data Systems Specialist at TEP Charter School, you will manage our school's student information system (SIS), lead data analysis projects, ensure accurate reporting, and contribute to enrollment and grant processes. This full-time, on-site role is based in Washington Heights/Inwood (NYC). It is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong communication skills, proven work experience in data analysis, data systems, or school operations, and the drive to contribute to organizational success. This role is ideal for a candidate ready to oversee data architecture, maintain strong data quality frameworks, and apply modern data visualization, data analytics, and business intelligence practices to ensure accuracy and clarity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in education, data systems, or organizational development.
  • 2-5+ years of professional experience with data systems, data analysis, or school operations.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and comfort managing data modeling and reporting tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical data into clear insights.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating data visualization dashboards with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with data architecture concepts and database management.
  • Experience supporting compliance reporting, grants, or school enrollment.
  • Exposure to practices in organizational development, evaluation, and training activities.
  • Knowledge of data governance analysts practices or related data specialist roles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of TEP's talent acquisition operations by maximizing the candidate experience for all positions and across the various stages of the hiring process.
  • Spearheading targeted recruitment for teachers and non-instructional staff by participating in recruitment events and networking amongst industry contacts, associations, and TEP talent to identify outstanding candidates.
  • Supporting the initial screening process of candidates.
  • Managing online recruiting platforms including TEP's applicant tracking system.
  • Growing TEP's robust pipeline of candidate referrals from existing TEP teachers and staff; referrals are the single most successful mechanism for attracting strong-fit talent to TEP.
  • Manage the hiring and year-round staffing of TEP's after-school enrichment (tutoring) program for Middle School students.
  • Lead TEP's student enrichment programs by partnering with organizations that run enrichment camps for students during TEP's 3-week Fall break and 3-week Winter break; responsible for coordinating all promotion, registration and logistics for enrichment camps.
  • Oversee TEP's social media presence and develop weekly content focused on both Talent and Student Recruitment.
  • Serve as a sounding board and advisor for TEP's Director of Talent and other school leaders to support talent development and student enrichment programs.
  • Execute special projects relating to initiatives that extend from Talent Acquisition and/or TEP's student enrichment programs.
