The Data Systems Analyst at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) plays a crucial role in providing administrative and analytical support for clinical research operations. This position focuses on enhancing the efficiency of the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) and involves collaboration with various departments to improve processes and reporting. The analyst will engage with users, assist in training, and generate reports to support clinical research initiatives.

  • Provide administrative and analytical support for research operations and applications related to the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS): OnCore.
  • Communicate and engage with OnCore users across the University to provide support, testing, training, documentation, and enhancements.
  • Assist with collaborations between departments, groups, and study teams to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify process improvements by providing analytical reporting based on data in the CTMS.
  • Create and maintain user support documentation, protocol and regulatory records, protocol calendars, and financials within the CTMS.
  • Generate reports using SQL, Jasper, and Tableau, and oversee the management and maintenance of OnCore CTMS.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area (i.e. data science, data analytics, information technology, computer science, informatics, etc.).
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of data management systems, practices, and standards.
  • Ability to prepare simple data models under guidance of more senior professionals.
  • Familiarity with important types of data models such as logical/relational models, dimensional models, and document models.
  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes.
  • Master's degree in a related area (i.e. data science, data analytics, information technology, computer science, informatics, etc.).
  • Coding certification (SQL, Tableau, etc.).
  • Experience with clinical/research/clinical research data is preferred.
