The Data Support Specialist's role is in the ongoing support of providing operational, financial, billing, and clinical data needed for reports and measures. The Data Support Specialist provides data to United Health Centers (UHC) staff using current reporting systems and if unavailable or limited, through SQL query solutions. This position will also be responsible for providing validated data to various levels of leadership, management, and staff. Additionally, the position will also engage in regular tasks involved in reporting systems such as SQL reporting services, AthenaNet report builder, DentrixOne reports, and other data requests involving interfaces with other systems. This is a non-exempt position.

  • Support the end users for self-service report access and content at United Health Centers.
  • Provide reporting solutions using a combination of self-service report and/or SQL queries and programming as needed.
  • Provide internal data mapping and interfacing support for existing and new implementations.
  • Maintain and organize new and existing reports.
  • Handle UHC end users by fielding incoming report requests from end users both telephone and work orders received through UHC's IT Support Structure (ITSS) in a courteous manner.
  • Document all pertinent report request information, including name, department, contact information, reason for report, report fields to show, final presentation medium, and due date.
  • Support the work of the organization and develop working relationships with staff by building rapport and understanding measures, initiatives, and key performance indicators that affect the major departments at UHC.
  • Record, track, and document the help desk report request process, including all successful and unsuccessful queries made, and actions taken, through the final resolution.
  • Work to apply better SQL query skills to optimize report generation or provide better supplemental data that would be helpful to the end user.
  • Validate report data thoroughly and document as validated before report submittal to end user.
  • Communicate to end user status of any delays or any reason for delays.
  • Provide three business days to one week for end user to review data for any new custom reports or any self-service or emailed reports with major changes.
  • Identify and learn appropriate reporting software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Perform routine report follow-ups to ensure reports are still needed or need to be updated.
  • Support the team by developing or updating help sheets, SQL code repositories, report inventory, and knowledge base articles for end users when needed.
  • Degree in a related field or a commensurate combination of education and experience required.
  • Possess a valid CA Class C Drivers License.
  • Must obtain and maintain vendor and industry certifications as directed.
  • Experience and understanding of Athena and Dentrix Electronic Health Records and Practice Management workflows, templates, and memorized reports is preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of data reporting requirements by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) is preferred.
  • Operational and/or financial experience in the FQHC Health Center realm is preferred.
  • Prior SQL database language experience with Athena and Dentrix.
  • Experience with SQL Management Studio and SQL Reporting Services is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer programming or experience with analytic software.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing or health regulatory issues as required.
