About The Position

Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, designs, markets and underwrites commercial property/casualty and professional liability insurance products for select industries. We are looking for a Data Steward/Sr. Data Steward to join our Insurance Operations team Nationwide! The Data Steward plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality, trustworthy data across the organization. The Data Steward is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, consistency, and security of data assets. The Data Steward will collaborate with business and technical teams to implement data governance standards, resolve data quality issues, and support reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Data Science or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience in data management, governance, analysis or similar role.
  • Prior experience using a data governance tool, e.g. Collibra or Alation
  • Proficiency in querying and manipulating data using SQL or other scripting languages preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess data quality across core insurance domains (policy administration, claims, underwriting, etc.)
  • Lead the identification, analysis, and resolution of complex or systemic data quality issues (inaccurate, incomplete, duplicate, outdated data, etc.) with the business and IT.
  • Define, approve, and govern business rules, validation checks, and allowable data quality thresholds for in-scope data in partnership with business stakeholders
  • Assign and oversee data classification and data criticality for business data elements based on business requirements and risk.
  • Govern metadata definitions, business glossaries, and reference data across data domains.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure metadata completeness, accuracy, and consistency including definitions, business rules, and calculations across domains.
  • Oversee documentation of data lineage, data flows, and key data sources across systems in partnership with IT.
  • Support ensuring appropriate access rights and lifecycle management of business data per governance standards.
  • Enforce data governance policies and standards, partnering with the business to manage and resolve required exceptions.
  • Proactively identify and escalate current and future data needs, risks, and issues.
  • Serve as a senior liaison between business units and IT, providing governance, change management, and data literacy support as needed.
