About The Position

CHPW utilizes a team-based care model, sharing patient-centered responsibilities among members of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The Data Specialist serves as the primary individual responsible for analyzing and interpreting healthcare data to inform operational, quality, and performance based decisions. Key responsibilities include collecting, organizing, validating, and evaluating information from electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare data sources to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities to advance patient care. This position collaborates with administrators, managers, and coordinators to monitor, assess, and optimize healthcare processes and outcomes using a data-driven approach, while ensuring compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex healthcare data.
  • Working knowledge of electronic health record systems and healthcare data sources.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to data accuracy, completeness, and integrity of healthcare data and reports.
  • Ability to communicate data findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, health information management, data analytics, public health, or related field, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, integrated healthcare, or population health settings preferred.
  • Previous experience working with healthcare data, eClinicalWorks or other EHR systems, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Software skills: Microsoft Office products; Windows; Internet and Intranet; various applications, systems, and hardware as assigned at CHWP for healthcare purposes.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret healthcare data, recognize trends, and identify actionable insights.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates accuracy and precision in data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Confidentiality & Compliance: Strong understanding of HIPAA, privacy requirements, and appropriate handling of protected health information.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicates data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with administrators, managers, coordinators, and clinical teams in a team-based care environment.
  • Technology Proficiency: Working knowledge of EHR systems, reporting tools, and healthcare data sources.
  • Problem Solving: Uses data to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to candidates with health data analyst certification (CHDA) from an accredited association such as American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret healthcare data from EHR systems and other internal and external data sources to support informed decision-making.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and performance gaps to support clinical quality, operational efficiency, and population health initiatives.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, privacy laws, and CHWP policies related to health information and data use.
  • Collaborate with administrators, managers, and coordinators to evaluate healthcare processes, workflows, and outcomes using data-driven analysis.
  • Support CHWP in the effective use of health management tools, EHR functionality, and reporting systems to improve patient outcomes and organizational performance.
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data summaries to support leadership, compliance, quality improvement, and operational initiatives.
  • Establish a cadence for data review and reporting to meet the timelines associated with the Health Center needs.
  • Identify and address training needs related to data use, reporting processes, and EHR functionality.
  • Assist with education and support related to EHR data entry, reporting standards, and data interpretation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support data-informed planning, monitoring, and evaluation efforts
  • Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct, and communications that always represent the organization in a highly professional manner.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all CHWP policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
  • Ensures security and compliance with health information requirements established by HIPAA, federal and state regulations.
  • Accurately collect, analyze, and report healthcare data in support of clinical quality, compliance, and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and appropriate use of healthcare data in accordance with HIPAA and CHWP policies.
  • Provide timely, reliable data insights that support leadership, managers, and care teams in evaluating healthcare outcomes and performance.
  • Support and maintain effective use of EHR systems and health information tools to improve patient care and organizational efficiency.
  • Collaborate across departments to support quality improvement, reporting, and performance monitoring initiatives
