About The Position
The Green Mountain Club (GMC) is a non-profit organization with the mission to make the Vermont mountains play a larger part in the life of the people by protecting and maintaining the Long Trail System and fostering, through education, the stewardship of Vermont’s hiking trails and mountains. Position Description The Data Specialist will support the Green Mountain Club’s fundraising and membership operations through data entry, processing, and reporting in addition to providing a high level of customer service to donors and members. This person will work directly with GMC’s Development Manager and be part of a team that also includes GMC’s Deputy Director, Communications Director, and Communications Coordinator. The ideal candidate is independent, reliable, and has a high-level understanding of database functionality.
Requirements
- Experience working with databases and general enthusiasm for data and data integrity, including strong attention to detail.
- Ability to think strategically about reporting; utilizing and improving existing reports, removing unused reports and creating new reports to assist with membership and development goals
- Clear and professional communication skills: in-person, email and phone.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using Bloomerang is a plus.
- Experience working in development for a non-profit on projects such as mailing lists, donation processing, and data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Process all membership and donation gifts made online, by check, or through direct deposit, including appropriate receipts, membership cards, or acknowledgement letters.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports, including membership reports for GMC’s regional membership sections, financial reports, and major donor reports.
- Respond to member and donor inquiries.
- Ensure data integrity and create systems to remove or merge duplicate records, proactively monitor and resolve failed or outdated credit card processing, and general ongoing data clean up.
