The Data Specialist 2 position is a mid-level position operating under the direction of more senior Contractor IT staff. Performs file manipulation, loading, conversion services, database indexing, and quality checks of loads. Develops, evaluates and modifies methodologies and procedures for manipulating files for use with COTS products and litigation support applications. Responsible for ensuring that incoming productions are made pursuant to the applicable ESI specifications and when deficiencies are found, provides Senior Data Specialist with detailed notice of deficiencies. Performs advanced tasks related to exporting data from contractor and DOJ databases, including: identifying data for export, confirming redactions and other markups, ensuring that exports comply with applicable ESI specifications, and quality check of exported data.

  • Manage and execute all aspects of eDiscovery data processing and data loading. This includes processing of raw data and loading of load-ready data sets.
  • Communicates directly with legal teams regarding questions about data sets received.
  • Identify and report processing and loading errors/issues to senior team members.
  • Consults with the senior team members for recommended fixes.
  • Assist junior team members when they need assistance.
  • Perform assigned QC tasks.
  • Scan paper documents.
  • Track and update stats and statuses for all work in the tracking program.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Requires knowledge of litigation discovery process, and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) workflow.
  • Knowledge of Government's IT environment, including office automation networks, PC and server based applications preferred. Working knowledge of personal computers, including Windows, document review software, and encryption methods.
  • Experience with LAW, IPRO, Relativity or other document processing platform. Familiarity with ICONECT, Relativity, MS Office Suite, and West LiveNote valued.
  • At least two years' experience performing eDiscovery roles including but not limited to electronic files processing (EFP), image and data file conversion, data culling using review tools, quality assurance, database loads and retrieval, and data analysis.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred-preferably in computer science or related field.
  • Intermediate experience with Relativity/Relativity One, LAW, and Concordance. Everlaw experience is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be willing to work on a flexible or dead-line driven schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer's cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag.
