About The Position

Cozen O'Connor is hiring a Data Services Engineer to join the IS team. This position is a staff-level role on the Enterprise Data Services team. The individual in this role is responsible for building and maintaining the systems that store, move, and deliver the firm’s data. The position works on a team responsible for core database engineering, business intelligence and reporting development, and modern data integration practices. The successful candidate will work individually and within the team to ensure that information is accurate, secure, and consistently available across the organization. This role is a hybrid position. Strong preference for Philadelphia-area based candidates who are on site 3 days each week in Center City Philadelphia.

Requirements

  • Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology or other related field and/or commensurate work experience.
  • 3-5 years of TSQL development experience, focused on ETL/ELT development.
  • Experience includes parsing, validation, transformation, and storage of JSON data structures within on-premises and cloud-based SQL Server implementations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and modern data warehouse architecture.
  • Experience with data cleansing and preparation for AI-based systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate in fast-paced, distributed environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the legal industry is strongly preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a hybrid on-premises and cloud-based environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and maintain a deep understanding of the firm’s transactional system data, including how it is structured, used, and integrated across business applications.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor ETL/ELT data integration pipelines to ensure high quality data and seamless movement between systems and platforms.
  • Write, test, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and scripts to extract, transform, and retrieve data efficiently and reliably.
  • Develop, manage and maintain business intelligence and reporting tools (operational reports, dashboards, ad-hoc analysis) to support the business objectives of the firm.
  • Apply best practices in data governance and metadata management to support consistency, transparency, and compliance across the data ecosystem.
  • Create and maintain clear, well organized technical documentation that supports ongoing development, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with the IS Compliance team to provide required evidence for audits and to support ongoing ISO certification renewals.
