About The Position

In this Role, You will... Assist in mapping and creating Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) to visually represent how customer data is captured, processed, stored, and shared across various applications, systems, and vendors. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate data security risks. Work closely within the InfoSec team to address security concerns and help with incident response. Support the development and implementation of data protection strategies and initiatives. Review and improve InfoSec controls to ensure they are up to date and fully applied. Query databases and manipulate data to prepare datasets for analysis, focusing on human behavior. Assist in creating reports, charts, and graphs to present findings and insights on data flows to stakeholders. Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions on data security issues and solutions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Information Security, or related field
  • Basic understanding of privacy, data management principles, and database concepts.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling, application security testing, and secure software development practices.
  • A passion for computers and security.
  • Desire to learn and have a strong sense of curiosity.
  • Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026, and are available full-time (M-F 9am - 5 pm).
  • Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to break down complex concepts for various audiences.
  • Familiarity with data flow diagram methodologies or a strong interest in learning visual process documentation.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (how websites work, how ports and IP addresses work, how encryption works, etc.).
  • SQL knowledge
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with data protection tools and technologies is a plus.
