About The Position

State Farm is seeking a Data Security Analyst to enhance and support its Data Security Product Suite, particularly focusing on the Data Lifecycle Protective Controls (DLPC) Team. This role involves collaborating with various business and technical areas to improve data handling practices and implement protective controls for sensitive data. The analyst will engage in research, education, and the development of metrics to ensure effective data security across the organization.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Information Security domains, especially in data security concepts.
  • Broad-based knowledge of security, cloud, and development technologies and best practices.
  • Ability to navigate the organization to identify solutions and resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of workflow automation tools or scripting languages, preferably PowerShell.
  • Self-driven with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Innovative and leverages automation to optimize processes.
  • Ability to lead discussions with diverse participants and maintain strong relationships.
  • Effective communication skills at various levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using data and analytics.

Nice To Haves

  • Suggested certifications may include CISSP, GSEC, CISM, CRISC, GCIA, GREM, GCWN, GAWN, or GPPA.

Responsibilities

  • Research, implement, mature, and support data protection technologies.
  • Collaborate with business partners to provide education, training, and awareness services related to managing sensitive data.
  • Advance understanding of data handling practices and awareness of Data Security risks across the organization.
  • Develop, analyze for trends, and present Data Security metrics to business partners and leadership.
  • Engage in migration opportunities from on-prem technologies to cloud-based solutions like Microsoft (M365).
  • Research emerging information security threats and vendor products related to sensitive data protection.
  • Participate in vendor product reviews, evaluations, and implementations.
  • Provide subject matter consulting on implemented controls that protect sensitive data.
  • Develop, document, and maintain data security operational procedures and guidelines.
