This contract provides advanced computing capabilities for executing scientific, data science and AI/ML workloads. The team provides infrastructures to enables innovation in support of high fidelity, advanced analytics and model development by delivering the highest quality technical capabilities, cutting edge computing and engineering support to its customers. The infrastructure delivers a state-of-the-art solution comprised of hardware, software, storage and networking as well as application, database and workstation support. The program supports an advanced computing infrastructure containing clustered GPUs and massively parallel CPU to enable the delivery of high fidelity, advanced analytic products. This environment provides unprecedented access to computational power and analytic throughput to solve some of the government’s most challenging computational and scientific problems. What you will be doing The team needs to understand the performance characteristics of its complex infrastructure and to quantify how our users exercise this platform. To do this, we need to pull and groom data from systems and logs that categorize key attributes of the platform from visualization and analysis. These views of holistic system use inform actions the team will undertake to optimize the systems and inform future investments. The successful candidate is responsible for creating visualizations, reports and dashboards for use by management for monitoring and decision making. This role will require learning the needs of the environment and how it can be serviced by curating data for consumption as insightful visual artifacts. This will require developing or building on data science and visualization techniques to deliver easy to understand data represented as online and on display dashboards. As the role grows, the candidate will expand the work to include acquiring requirements to improve the team’s delivery of HPC hardware and software tools for its mission partners performing data science, complex physics-based modeling, and AI/ML efforts. The candidate will work with the HPC team, the system administration teams, and the users of the delivered capabilities to create the future environment supporting our growing user base. It is expected that this role expands over time to participate in, or take on complex tasks, to increase the usefulness of the infrastructure being supplied as the team approaches nascent disciplines related to emerging field such as MLOps, LLM integrations, AI enabled services, etc. Day to day this position will be called upon to both work within the defined field of generating these various report and dashboards, while also working with the larger team to leverage all the candidates’ capabilities to meet mission requirements. The likely salary range for this position is $148,813 - $201,335. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
