About The Position

deciBel Research is seeking a mid-level Data Scientist to support a research effort by performing data processing and analysis of large scientific data sets. Responsibilities include: Analyze large atmospheric, meteorological, and climate data sets from satellites, radar, sensors, and numerical models Process and analyze geospatial and time-series data Collect, clean, and pre-process structured and unstructured data from multiple sources Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques Translate complex analytical results into clear scientific insights using a variety of plotting packages

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM-related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with the Linux operating system
  • Strong proficiency in Python (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, xarray, Anaconda)
  • Solid understanding of statistics and probability
  • Understanding of statistical techniques used to perform data analysis on large data sets
  • Current SECRET clearance
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in atmospheric sciences in the context of radar
  • Experience with GPU programming
  • Experience with Radar technology
