The Department of Radiology is seeking a Data Scientist who will help lead data management for the research program. This Data Scientist will work within a core group of researchers and staff to manage the collection and curation of high-quality clinical data to inform and improve breast cancer screening, treatment, and outcomes. This position will report directly to the Director. The Wisconsin Imaging-based Screening and Cancer Research (WISCR) Network is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Madison and community radiology practices throughout Wisconsin to aggregate de-identified breast imaging data with the goal of improving population-based screening outcomes. WISCR provides a resource for big data research, including the use of artificial intelligence in screening, that will influence regional and national cancer screening policies and practices. This position will provide data management and basic data analysis to support research operations, scientific grants, and publications. The Data Scientist is expected to develop a deep understanding of the data compiled in the registry and be responsible for mapping multi-level data to research data dictionaries. The successful candidate will have or rapidly acquire an understanding of breast cancer screening data, be versed in SAS and SQL, and have a solid understanding of data informatics. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
