Overview: CVS Caremark is seeking a Data Scientist to play a pivotal role in enhancing the accuracy of our underwriting processes through advanced analytics. In this key position, you will leverage your analytical expertise to conduct error attribution and advanced root cause analysis, providing actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in prescriptive and descriptive analytics, statistics, or a related field, with a proven ability to effectively conduct root cause analysis and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python (Pandas) with 2+ years of professional experience.
  • Strong statistical and analytical background with hands-on experience in experimental design and ROI analysis.
  • Skilled in exploring various data sources and systems to diagnose the root causes and be able to provide effective solution which may include machine learning or statistical methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities which leverages statical and machine learning methods.
  • Solid SQL, Pyspark and Python coding skills are essential.
  • Experience in the PBM industry and/or management consulting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Tableau is advantageous.
  • A Master's degree in a quantitative field or an MBA is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify business opportunities through data-driven insights and develop high-impact analytical solutions.
  • Independently explore data and create a structured analytical work plan to derive meaningful insights.
  • Execute and analyze hypotheses to pinpoint factors contributing to forecasting errors.
  • Communicate analytical solutions and results through compelling narratives and visualizations to drive informed business decisions.
  • Understand coding, GIT, documentation, and quality assurance best practices.
