About The Position

Chenega Services & Federal Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). On our team, you'll use your leadership skills and data science expertise to create real-world impact. You'll work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You'll work independently to solve complex problems, applying critical thinking to navigate ambiguous requirements and determine the best path forward. You'll guide and mentor your team as you oversee the development of algorithms and systems. You'll use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to advise your clients as they make informed decisions. As a technical leader, you'll identify new opportunities to use data science solutions to help your clients meet their toughest challenges. Ultimately, you'll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used. Work with us as we use data science for good. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with data exploration, cleaning, analysis and visualization
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with SAS (required)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with SQL (required)
  • Knowledge of statistical or general-purpose programming languages for pipeline development and deployments, such as Python or R
  • Experience working on an Agile team and working in sprints
  • Experience working in agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, translating high-level objectives into actionable tasks
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong preference given to individuals located in Atlanta, GA or Washington D.C. Metro
  • Strong preference for an individual with an active CDC badge

Nice To Haves

  • SQL database management experience
  • Experience in public health
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in ambiguous situations
  • CDC experience

Responsibilities

  • Use AI tools to analyze various SAS and SQL coding scripts and identify what actions are happening in the code
  • Organize and document the findings into either structure validation, content validation, or business rules validation
  • Validate the findings with the SAS and SQL code programmatic owners to confirm accuracy
  • Explain the findings to the Business Analyst and Developer team members and help translate the findings into requirements for future state development
