About The Position

As Sr. Data Scientist in the Walmart+ Core Ops & Strategy Enablement team, you will be a senior individual contributor driving some of the most important experimentation and modeling work across Walmart+. You’ll design and analyze experiments, build propensity and churn models, and help turn successful approaches into reusable data science assets. Your work will directly support the Member Acquisition & New Benefits and Member Engagement & Retention teams and shape how one of Walmart’s highest-priority businesses tests, learns, and scales new ideas. The Walmart+ Core Ops & Strategy Enablement Data Science team is integral to the Walmart+ ecosystem, focusing on developing experimentation frameworks and rapid-turn models like propensity and churn. The team transforms innovative solutions into reusable data science assets, collaborating closely with Member Acquisition and Member Engagement teams. Utilizing expertise in data science, machine learning, Python, SQL, and data visualization, the team delivers rigorous experimentation, actionable insights, and scalable models. Their work supports multiple customer journeys and channels, driving impactful business outcomes through advanced analytics and strategic data applications. Requirements

  • A passion for experiment-driven decision making and the ability to balance speed with sound methodology.
  • Strong problem-structuring skills, turning ambiguous questions into tractable hypotheses, experiments, and models.
  • A collaborative, low-ego mindset that brings stakeholders along, especially partners across the organization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-evolving, high-priority environment, with the ability to prioritize and communicate tradeoffs.
  • A habit of owning outcomes, not just analyses – you care that the organization acts on what you learn.
  • Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze experiments that span multiple Walmart+ journeys, benefits, and channels, partnering closely with the Member Acquisition & New Benefits and Member Engagement & Retention teams.
  • Build and maintain models such as propensity, churn, and uplift to answer high-impact strategic questions and support critical decisions.
  • Translate test and model results into clear, actionable recommendations that inform product roadmaps, marketing strategies, and portfolio bets.
  • Refactor and standardize code and methods into reusable templates, feature sets, or libraries that other data science teams can leverage.
  • Partner with data engineering and platform teams to improve data pipelines and access patterns needed for fast experimentation and modeling.
