About The Position

The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in driving quality management initiatives for large-scale healthcare programs. This position focuses on applying advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and performance trend analysis to large datasets to improve healthcare outcomes and support value-based care initiatives. You will collaborate with analysts, policy teams, and quality management staff to translate complex data into actionable insights, models, and reports that guide program decisions. This role requires expertise in statistical techniques, data visualization, and healthcare quality metrics. The position is fully remote and offers an opportunity to directly influence data-driven decisions in Medicaid and CHIP programs, contributing to enhanced program performance and member care.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or a related role, preferably in healthcare or public sector settings.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Experience with healthcare quality data, such as HEDIS, CAHPS, or managed care performance metrics.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods including regression, classification, clustering, and time-series forecasting.
  • Experience with structured data (SQL) and familiarity with data warehousing or cloud-based platforms.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Apply statistical, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques to large healthcare datasets to identify quality trends and forecast outcomes.
  • Analyze data from HEDIS, CAHPS, value-based purchasing programs, and member-level claims or encounter data.
  • Develop models for pay-for-performance analysis, risk stratification, provider scoring, and outcome prediction.
  • Collaborate with analysts, quality teams, and policy stakeholders to translate insights into actionable strategies for care improvement and program accountability.
  • Build and maintain reproducible data pipelines and models to support ongoing reporting and quality initiatives.
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and findings to ensure transparency and regulatory compliance.
  • Support development and integration of analytical outputs into performance dashboards and reporting platforms.
