As a Data Scientist Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, contributing to critical projects that impact the future of space operations. You will gain hands-on experience in data analysis, algorithm development, and machine learning while helping us derive insights from complex datasets. Role Overview: In this role, you’ll assist in analyzing large datasets to extract meaningful insights that drive decision-making processes. You’ll contribute to developing predictive models, performing statistical analyses, and collaborating with various teams to integrate data-driven solutions into ongoing projects. Hands-on experience with programming languages and tools, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to communicate findings effectively are essential for success in this internship.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and programming languages, with a focus on Python or R.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Sausalito, CA during the internship period.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency due to ITAR export-control restrictions, as this position may involve export-controlled technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or project experience in data analysis, machine learning, or a related domain.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and frameworks.
  • Exposure to cloud computing platforms or data processing frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to support project goals and objectives.
  • Develop predictive models using machine learning algorithms to test hypotheses and uncover trends.
  • Visualize data and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data solutions into systems design and development.
  • Stay updated on best practices in data science and machine learning methodologies.
