About the position

The Data Scientist III position is located at 702 SW 8th St, Bentonville, AR 72716. The role involves supporting the development of business cases and recommendations, owning delivery of project activities, and solving business issues. The candidate will be responsible for identifying appropriate data sources, understanding data strategy, and applying analytical modeling techniques to complex data. The position also includes mentoring junior associates, supporting model deployment and scaling, writing and testing code, and formulating problems into data-related solutions. The Data Scientist will generate data visualizations and present findings to influence team decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of business cases and recommendations.
  • Owns delivery of project activity and tasks assigned by others.
  • Supports process updates and changes.
  • Solves business issues.
  • Understands the appropriate data set required to develop simple models.
  • Supports the identification of the most suitable source for data.
  • Maintains awareness of data quality.
  • Understands, articulates, and applies principles of the defined strategy to routine business problems.
  • Selects the analytical modeling technique most suitable for structured, complex data.
  • Conducts exploratory data analysis activities.
  • Defines and finalizes features based on model responses.
  • Identifies the dimensions of the experiment and conducts the experiment.
  • Performs trend and cluster analysis on data.
  • Mentors and guides junior associates on basic modeling and analytics techniques.
  • Supports efforts to ensure that analytical models can be deployed into production.
  • Writes code to develop required solutions and application features.
  • Tests the code using the recommended testing approach.
  • Translates business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions.
  • Supports model fit testing and statistical inferences to evaluate performance.
  • Generates appropriate graphical representations of data and model outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; OR Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in analytics or related experience.
  • Experience with linear programming, non-linear programming, dynamic programming, and integer programming.
  • Understanding of graph theory and its application in supply chain.
  • Familiarity with NP problems and approximation solutions.
  • Experience in building mathematical models and performing numerical simulations.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and common machine learning models.
  • Experience with deep learning techniques.
  • Proficiency in coding with object-oriented programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++.
  • Familiarity with statistical and machine learning packages like Numpy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.
  • Experience with deep learning packages such as Tensorflow and PyTorch.
