As a Data Scientist at Solera’s Explore division, you will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and advancing data-driven products that power decision-making across the insurance industry. Explore provides advanced data and modeling solutions that help insurers better understand risk, improve pricing accuracy, and optimize operations. You’ll work with diverse data sources—including geospatial, structured and unstructured, and telematics data—to build, enhance, and deploy predictive models and machine learning solutions. You’ll also explore and implement cutting-edge large language models (LLMs) to automate analytical and operational processes and contribute to new product development initiatives that expand Explore’s data capabilities.

  • Model Development & Machine Learning Design, train, and maintain predictive and prescriptive machine learning models for insurance applications.
  • Apply statistical modelling, supervised and unsupervised learning, and deep learning techniques to solve business problems.
  • Leverage modern LLMs and AI tools to automate data analysis, document processing, and model-driven workflows.
  • Implement scalable, production-ready models and contribute to model monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Work with complex and large-scale datasets, including geospatial, telematics, structured, and unstructured data.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and data cleaning to support model development.
  • Collaborate with business, actuarial, and engineering teams to design and prototype new data and modelling products.
  • Translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations that support underwriting, pricing, and risk assessment.
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of model-driven product development—from ideation and experimentation through deployment and evaluation.
  • Stay up to date on advances in AI, generative modelling, and machine learning frameworks relevant to insurance data.
  • Experiment with modern AI/ML tools to identify opportunities for automation and workflow optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Strong foundation in machine learning and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with natural language processing and familiarity with LLM.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret model outputs, identify trends, and communicate insights.
  • Creative and self-driven approach to solving open-ended problems.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Data Scientist
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or physical sciences.
  • Background in insurance, data services, or software-as-a-service (SaaS) environments is a plus.
