About The Position

As a Data Scientist I, you will be responsible for extracting valuable insights from data to support decision-making within the Aerospace and Defense industry. You will use advanced data mining, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques to develop predictive and prescriptive solutions that address business challenges and enhance operational efficiency. As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in data science or related field. Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Data-oriented personality.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Certifications in data science or related fields.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, AWS Sagemaker, etc.
  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig, etc.
  • Good scripting and programming skills: Python, PySpark, Scala, R., etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableu, etc.
  • Experience with AWS Data Warehousing: AWS RDS (PostgreSQL), Redshift.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of the use of ontologies to express business data patterns.
  • Graph database knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Acquire, process, cleanse, and validate data from various sources.
  • Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and business requirements.
  • Generate insightful reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Ensure data integrity and quality throughout the analysis process.
  • Continuously improve data science methodologies and processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and technology.
