Data Scientist I Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position: Applies statistics and data science methods to develop insights, prototypes, and decision-support analyses that improve CPE-STRI program performance and modernization outcomes as well as supporting Agile Solution Implementation for providing proactive metrics analysis (e.g. Velocity and Capacity Forecasting) Works with senior data scientists and engineers to prepare data, run experiments, and communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience with BA/BS (or equivalent).
• Experience with Python/R and common statistical/ML libraries; comfortable communicating analytic results.
• Familiarity with data ethics, validation, and reproducibility practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Active SECRET strongly desired; ability to obtain and maintain SECRET (or higher) required.
• Task-order DD254 may require higher clearance (e.g., TS/SCI).

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to operational datasets and performance metrics in DoD or large enterprise contexts
• Experience with visualization tools to communicate results
• Experience working with protected data and RBAC

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and baseline model development.
• Develop reproducible notebooks/scripts and document assumptions, methods, and results.
• Support model validation, bias checks, and monitoring plans.
• Collaborate with engineers to transition prototypes into deployable pipelines where appropriate.
