About The Position

Meta is seeking a highly quantitative, analytical and proactive data scientist for the Finance Data Science team. The Finance DS team has a unique bird's-eye view of Meta's world class advertising business and is positioned at the center of some of the most important strategic decisions for the company. The team is responsible for understanding business drivers, accurately forecasting revenue, identifying opportunities/risks, and maximizing ROI on the largest investments across the family of apps (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp). This position will focus heavily on analyzing and modeling ROI of Meta's infra capacity investments and decisions, understanding how leading-edge AI technologies are impacting our complex ads ecosystem, and developing actionable insights to enable data-driven financial decision making. The role is highly cross-functional and partner facing, involving coordination and navigation of differing perspectives across a variety of data science, product and finance teams. As an experienced individual contributor, you will also be expected to raise the quality of the data science craft at Meta, and to provide technical leadership and mentorship to other data scientists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data science, quantitative analysis or predictive modeling to inform business/financial strategy
  • 1+ years of experience as a technical lead (providing technical thought leadership or mentorship to other data scientists)
  • Proven collaboration, business communication and project leading skills in a time-sensitive, fast-changing environment - you have a track record of being viewed as an analytics thought leader by business partners in solving complex cross-functional problems
  • Proven track record in synthesizing strategic insights to influence decision-making through data-centric presentations, and communicating effectively across business and technical domains (including to executive audiences)
  • Proven skills in extracting and manipulating large datasets using data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), and/or statistical software (e.g. R)
  • Proactive and results oriented - experience ramping up on new domains, proactive in identifying problems to solve and willing to go the extra mile to drive impact

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead data science projects end-to-end in partnership with other data science, finance or cross-functional teams to inform and influence product investment decisions
  • Raise the bar of data science at Meta, including but not limited to driving data best practices (e.g. analysis, goaling, forecasting), improving analytical processes, scaling knowledge and tools, and mentoring other data scientists
  • Build frameworks to analyze business implications, influence measurement standards and extrapolate experiment results into highly accurate and explainable forecasts
  • Navigate complex cross-functional situations and evaluate statistical analyses by other data science teams to reach alignment on objective business outcomes
  • Influence financial and product direction through clear and compelling presentations, including leadership
