About The Position

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Data Scientist & Developer. You will embed within a team of cybersecurity domain experts and serve as a force multiplier for their analysis. Our product and vision is focused on securing the nation’s infrastructure and delivering value. This is a chance to apply advanced analytics and software development skills to detect cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure. This is a hybrid position where you will apply strong data science skills while being hands-on with the code and contributing to our production codebase. The position is split between data science and development, requiring someone who can both analyze complex security datasets and build analytical tools and platforms to enable our detection engineering process. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong programming skills and CS fundamentals. You have a good understanding of Python or Go.
  • Advanced database skills: schema design, query optimization, data modeling.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and working with noisy data sets.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Detection Engineers to understand detection requirements and translate them into data, data platform, and analytical tool requirements.
  • Develop tools and extend our data platform to meet those requirements.
  • Develop methods to evaluate detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
  • Develop data models that highlight behavioral patterns indicative of cyber threats in OT environments.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis on security events to uncover hidden relationships and attack patterns.
  • Generate metrics and KPIs that measure detection coverage and data utilization effectiveness. Advise on data pipeline improvements and new data source integrations.
  • Contribute to our library of reusable analytical patterns for detection engineering.
  • Contribute to core platform development including data infrastructure, processing pipelines, and system integration.

  • The base pay for this position ranges from $100,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $180,000/year in our highest geographic market.
  • Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Galvanick is an early stage startup and base salary is only one component of our compensation package.
  • Depending on the position offered, equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
