About the position

HueDx is seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a focus on Computer Vision to develop innovative tools that enhance experiments across various industries. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to create image processing pipelines and machine learning solutions that support the company's rapid diagnostic testing platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop image processing pipelines for analyzing biological samples and reaction colors from mobile phone images.
  • Create experimental, test, and production code for image processing pipelines and architecture in AWS using Python.
  • Develop end-to-end workflows for machine learning solutions, including data preparation and cloud storage.
  • Plan for future product needs and understand practical requirements for real-world applications.
  • Maintain high scientific rigor in product development, ensuring safety and effectiveness in compliance with FDA standards.
  • Produce software for deployed products, managing bugs, features, and complex data science requirements.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into practical data science tasks and ensure clear communication within the team.
  • Take ownership of the codebase, ensuring quality code and documentation.

Requirements

  • BS/MS/PhD in data science, computer science, or related field with quantitative emphasis.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in data science or related fields.
  • 3+ years experience with OpenCV or SKImage, SKLearn, Tensorflow/PyTorch or other deep learning frameworks.
  • 1+ years experience in AWS or other cloud providers.
  • Expert level knowledge and design ability in Python.
  • Deep knowledge of statistics and model quality metrics (regression, distance measures, precision/recall, etc.).
  • Familiarity with classical computer vision techniques and modern deep neural network approaches.
  • Fluency in common data science packages and environments (Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy).
  • Experience working in non-RGB color spaces (HSL, HSV, LAB, XYZ, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in computational photography concepts such as white balance, gamma curves, debayering, HDR, etc.
  • Extensive background using Sagemaker and MLOps processes in workflows.
  • Experience in zero-shot learning or other small-dataset techniques.
  • Experience in colorimetric analysis procedures and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Bayesian optimization approaches and tools.
