About The Position

The Data Scientist position at Apple focuses on evaluating and improving the accuracy and reliability of Maps data. Requirements

• MS/PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Operations Research, or similar quantitative domain.
• 3+ years experience with data analysis at web scale or relevant work experience.
• Proficient in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python, Scala, Java).
• Proficient in at least one database language (e.g., SQL).
• Capable of translating business questions into technical requirements using statistical techniques.
• Solid communication and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior industry experience with AB testing and causal inference.
• Experience with spatial data analysis.
• Experience with large data sets using technologies like Hadoop and Spark.
• Experience writing pipelines for automating analytics tasks at scale.
• Domain-specific knowledge of the mapping/transportation/GIS industry.
• Experience mentoring junior data scientists and leading projects.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate intricate layers of Maps data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Identify areas for improvement in Maps data.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Operation teams on basemap data and service algorithms.
• Build data products and scalable tools using Python or Scala.
• Design and validate actionable metrics to measure user engagement and experience.
• Create effective experiments for evaluating complex data and machine learning systems.
• Develop models and analyses to extract insights from large volumes of data.
• Automate analyses and pipelines using SQL and Python/Scala-based ETL frameworks.
• Communicate insights to partner teams to influence product direction.
