Join Lam as a Data Scientist, where you'll design, develop, and program methods to analyze unstructured and diverse big data into actionable insights. You'll develop algorithms and automated processes to evaluate large data sets from disparate sources. Your expertise in generating, interpreting, and communicating actionable insights enables Lam to make informed and data-driven decisions.
This opportunity is for a Data Scientist in the Systems Engineering Group in Global Product Engineering. The position is located in Fremont, CA. Our team supports products currently in the market as well as develops new products actively being brought to market.
You will assist in analyzing data and building data analytics algorithms for Lam's Etch, Deposition, and Clean semiconductor equipment. An example:
The team is troubleshooting a a customer escalation. With help from a subject matter expert, you need to understand the problem, investigate what data is available, analyze the data, interpret the results, and share with the team.
A likely follow up will be that you build an analytics app with an easy-to-use GUI, so engineers without coding experience can troubleshoot this issue quickly in the future.
Another likely follow up will be that you create an algortihm to predict the failure in the future

Requirements

• Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Expert in python. (Note: AI tools are available to assist you with coding.)
• Drives to understand the underlying equipment and how its hardware operates to be able to interprete the the data from the equipment better .
• Thrives in cross-functional teams.
• Handles multiple tasks and priorities with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for experience with ETL pipelines.
• Preference for experience with semiconductor fabrication equipment.
• Preference for camera experience and image processing experience.
