About The Position

Join Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets trading team as a Data Science summer intern located in Houston, Texas. In this part of our business, you will partner with our power trading desk to provide data science and analytic solutions that maximize opportunities for the trade floor. Requirements

• Students expecting to graduate between December 2025 - May 2026.
• Must be able to work full-time from May - August 2025.
• Computer Science focused on data science, machine learning, or equivalent.
• Skilled in R or Python.
• Strong numerical skills and ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly.

Nice To Haves

• Skills in Excel, SQL, machine learning, statistics, and back testing are optional but preferred.
• Interest in financial services.
• Proactive, resourceful, and positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Sit as part of the trade desk and leverage data and technical tools to improve research in commodity market fundamentals.
• Support senior traders with wrangling data, building models, using machine learning, doing back tests, and providing results to traders and senior analysts.
• Use Python, R, and machine learning knowledge to support possible trading opportunities and maintain, update, and improve trading and analysis tools.
