About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Data Science Manager to grow the application and impact of Data Science techniques within Amplify’s Sales, Marketing and Finance departments. This role will be pivotal to the growth of best practices in data analytics, and the introduction of experimentation and machine learning into these departments. The Data Science Manager will serve as the technical lead for a cross-functional Data scrum team focused on Marketing analytics and will hire and manage a team of Data Scientists working on cross functional scrum teams aligned with our Sales and Finance departments. This role will report to the Director of Data Science and Analytics and is considered a leadership position within Amplify’s Data Department. As a result, you will be empowered to innovate and participate in important decisions across the entire data stack. Additionally, the culture here at Amplify cannot be beat. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a data science or related role.
  • 2+ years experience working with dbt.
  • 2+ years experience with a Machine Learning operations platform like Snowpark ML, Databricks/ML Flow, AWS Sagemaker or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience as a technical team lead and a people manager.
  • 1+ years of experience developing data products that leverage Large Language Models/Generative AI.
  • Expert in the training and evaluating the performance of machine learning models leveraging industry standard libraries like PyTorch, scikit-learn, tidymodels, xGBoost.
  • Expert user of Python for data analysis tasks (data cleaning, manipulation, analysis).
  • Demonstrated ability to turn vague business problems into projects which data science can address.
  • Experience owning a portfolio of Data products, making strategic decisions about when to continue investing in a product or to deprecate it.
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and conversation, especially with non-technical partners.
  • Experience leading agile teams and rituals like Storytime, Story Splitting, Story Estimation, and Retrospectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a Product Manager to maintain a high-velocity and high quality data product delivery pipeline.
  • Evaluate different implementation pathways and choose the one which best meets the constraints and allowances of the project at hand.
  • Source, prioritize, evaluate, execute, and communicate the state of a Data project.
  • Take responsibility for successful delivery against quarterly objectives, including leading your team in establishing best practices in estimation, requirements analysis, balancing trade offs, and executing against commitments.
  • Identify gaps in Data Scientists’ tools and practices and work proactively to address these.
  • Provide technical guidance, career development and coaching for data scientists.
  • Maintain a pulse on the state of the art in Data Science and strategically introduce new tools or techniques to the Data Science function in order to grow their capabilities and efficiency.
  • Create reference architectures and best practices for building data products in novel domains.
