We are looking for a Data Scientist Intern to join the SMB Portfolio Analytics team, someone passionate about problem-solving and skilled at extracting actionable insights from data through in-depth analysis. PayPal's Global SMB Portfolio Analytics team provides the connecting fiber between Strategy, Go-To-Market, Product, and Marketing teams. We collaborate closely with senior leadership to deliver analytical insights, perform merchant segmentation, drive global initiatives, and develop self-serve tools to empower our teams and enhance decision-making.

  • Become an SMB domain expert and conduct data analysis to drive financial benefits without compromising customer experience.
  • Challenge the status quo and promote data-driven decision-making.
  • Work closely with product leaders to understand new offerings and recommend key metrics for performance tracking.
  • Identify key metrics, perform in-depth data analysis, and create executive-friendly insights to drive decisions and prioritization.
  • Analyze business performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend optimal solutions for improvement.
  • Synthesize large datasets with attention to detail, presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data teams to resolve data tracking issues and build necessary pipelines.
  • Define and implement best practices in analytics and experimentation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional datasets and converting insights into actionable solutions.
  • B.S. in a quantitative field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Proficient in SQL, Excel, and visualization tools like Tableau or Looker; experience with Python or R is a plus, with comfort in handling complex datasets.
  • Strong understanding of statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression) and experience designing and evaluating experiments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills, consistently meeting deadlines.
