About The Position

Come join a growing financial technology company that’s leading the marketplace in both the marketing and servicing of credit cards! Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking a data science intern to support our data science team. Continental Finance Company interns get real-life exposure to the daily duties of the department. They spend the summer as a valued member of their respective team, learning business skills and assisting with a variety of projects that have an impact on the business operations. An additional focus of the program will be to complete a final project that will be an overview of activities, tasks and experiences throughout the 10-week program.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in and working towards a graduate degree in data science, physics, mathematics, data science or statistics
Available to work 40 hours/week (hybrid) for 10-week program: June 2nd to August 6th, 2026
Proficiency in Python and SQL is required; familiarity with machine learning algorithms is a plus
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communications
Strong customer service aptitude
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

Apply statistical methodologies and frameworks to support data analysis and project work
Utilize Python and SQL for data extraction and manipulation
Work under supervision to analyze credit bureau data and develop a tool for creating custom attributes, with opportunities to explore solutions using the CFC ChatGPT subscription
Execute projects and tasks as outlined by the mentor, ensuring timely and accurate completion
Prepare and submit weekly reports summarizing project progress and deliverables
Meet daily with a mentor to review project status, reports, and address questions
Contribute to the department and organization by providing innovative ideas, solutions, and an external perspective
