The Standard is seeking a Data Science Intern to join the AI Delivery team and contribute to the development of AI-powered workflow products that drive measurable business value across the enterprise. This internship is designed for high-potential students pursuing degrees in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related fields who want hands-on experience building and evaluating real-world machine learning systems in a regulated industry environment. As a Data Science Intern, you will partner with Data Scientists, AI / ML Engineers, Software Engineers, and Product Owners to support model development, experimentation, evaluation, and data analysis. You will gain exposure to production-grade machine learning workflows, model governance, and enterprise AI systems—moving beyond academic exercises into business-impacting work. This role is ideal for individuals who are curious, analytical, collaborative, and excited about applying AI responsibly at scale.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • EXPERIENCE: Prior coursework, research, or project experience in machine learning or data analysis. Internship or applied experience is a plus.
  • Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and machine learning fundamentals (classification, regression, model evaluation).
  • Proficiency in Python and common data science libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn).
  • Familiarity with data manipulation and querying (e.g., SQL).
  • Exposure to ML experimentation workflows, version control (e.g., Git), and reproducible analysis practices.
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical approaches with guidance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in applied AI systems, including NLP or generative AI concepts, is a plus.
